The Wonder Weeks is the English translation of the Dutch book ''Oei, ik groei!'' (literal translation: Ai, i'm growing) by former professor Frans X Plooij. It describes the theory that the cognitive development of babies occurs in predictable growth jumps. This theory has been disproved by Plooij's own PhD student, Carolina de Weerth. Plooij refused to acknowledge this, which led to his resignation as a professor. According to the book, a baby would go through 12 predictable jumps in its cognitive development during the first one and a half year. These jumps consist of two phases: # First the baby is crying a lot, in need of cuddling and in a bad mood. # then there is a phase of discovering new things with the new cognitive skills. Despite the evidence that disproved it, Plooij kept defending his theory, to the point where no one in the scientific world takes him seriously anymore. == References == 〔 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「The Wonder Weeks」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
